A presentation made by Professor John Gilliland to the British Nutrition Foundation, which included interim findings of the ARCZero EIP Project is now available to watch on-line.
The presentation on "reducing the environmental footprint of ruminants" was made to a physical audience of 200 (including HRH The Princess Royal) and a digital audience of over 1,000 at the "Annual Day" of the British Nutrition Foundation.
During the presentation John discussed results of research at Devenish's Lands at Dowth and emerging findings from the ARCZero EIP project.
The key points of John's presentation were:
Ruminant production is credibly changing and its products, meat and milk, do have a future role within a balanced human diet.
You can’t manage or communicate this journey of change unless you measure it.
To deliver both improved human and environmental health, we need smarter metrics that measure both journeys together and simultaneously.
The European Innovation Partnership (EIP) scheme is part of the Northern Ireland Rural Development Programme (NIRDP). It is jointly funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA).
